Imagination VS  Willpower

Willpower is meant to fail.

Have you ever tried to relax in a nervous situation? The more you try, the more you fail. Some lucky people have learned to take deep breaths and picture something relaxing or humorous, like a naked audience. Nevertheless, most people will go through their entire lives without being able to relax on command.

Willpower is a mechanism that was built to give your brain an easy way to disobey your orders. Most of the time, it is doing this for your own good, or the good of the human race. For instance, if a man, during sex, starts willing himself not to have an orgasm it will probably make it happen two times faster. But a commonly known method of delaying orgasm is to think of baseball or some other non-sexual subject.

The mind responds to what you believe, not what you want. If you believe something, your mind will go to whatever lengths necessary to make that belief true, including changing you and your perception, or even changing the world around you if it can.

Belief and Imagination – “I’ll believe it when I see it!”

What is more convincing than actually experiencing something? Not even a testimonial from a very reputable source can replace actually witnessing an event. Your subconscious mind works this way too, if you experience something, your subconscious mind lets down its guard and accepts it as true.

Belief and Imagination both trigger the same mental mechanism. In fact, it could be said that belief and imagination are the same mechanism, because they have the same effect. Many studies have been done on the result of imagination vs. belief. A basketball player who believes he can shoot and score is much more likely to make a shot than one who doesn’t believe. However, if the person who doesn’t believe imagines himself shooting and scoring, it is almost as likely to happen.

Try a little experiment. Get a rubber band and shoot it at a spot on the wall 10 times. Now sit back and take 5 minutes to imagine the rubber band hitting the exact spot on the wall every time you shoot it. It never misses in your mind. Every time you shoot it hits. In your mind, shoot 10 times and make it hit every time. After 5 minutes of visualization, shoot at the same spot another 10 times. The vast majority of people will find their shots are much more accurate than before. If you are already good at shooting rubber bands, try something else, like flipping a quarter and catching it with your eyes closed.

The Mind can’t tell the difference

The subconscious mind can not tell the difference between imagination and real experience. Don’t believe us? If you imagine food, you will become hungry and start to salivate. If you imagine an attractive person, you will start to get excited. You, of course, know it is not real, but your subconscious mind does not and its mental reaction is the same.

Using sensitive medical equipment, scientists can spot which parts of the brain “light up” when a person has an experience. What is amazing is that the exact same areas light up when the person is asked to simply imagine the same experience. The neural, electrical response to a real experience is almost identical to that of imagination! So identical, in fact, that the subconscious mind has trouble telling the difference.

The quirk of imagination is something that can be leveraged with Mental Programming. If you imagine yourself strong, thin and healthy, your mind, thinking it is real, will act to make the visualization a reality.

All of the above phenomena—and countless more—have very significant physical results, but the influences aren’t limited to medicine, communications, and technical gadgetry. The energetic workings of the Universe impact each and every one of us in ways that most people are never aware of—even to the point of individual experiences of happiness and success.

The Law of Magnetism says that we can only attract the same kind of energy that we put out about ourselves. Your Energetic Calling Card

In the Victorian era, calling cards were used to announce the arrival of a visitor or friend, and letters of introduction were sent ahead to pave the way and help someone new connect with others of like society. It was a formal process, but one which let the recipient know that the bearer was well connected and highly regarded.

Your personal resonance does much the same thing. Long before you arrive at an experience in life, your energy has sent messages about you to the people you’ll be interacting with. It announces you to everyone, revealing that part of you that others relate to on an unconscious but very compelling level: your energetic nature. So if you don’t like the society or circumstances you’ve attracted so far, or if you’ve had difficulty finding the success you desire, you’ll need to change what you put into your energetic calling card.

Luckily, since this frequency is something that you produce yourself, it’s also something that you can change. Once you figure out what makes up your vibrational resonance, you can take active steps to improve your magnetic frequency and change all that you attract.

There are three major ways that your personal resonance is created:

1. Through your emotional energy, or the vibrations of your feelings

2. Through your cognitive energy, or the vibrations of your thoughts

3. Through your physical energy, or the vibrations of your body

Let’s take a closer look at the first two methods on this list.

The Emotional Broadcast

Your emotional resonance is by far the most powerful expression of yourself. Your daily feelings broadcast loud and clear signals about who you are and what you expect from the world. If you’re chronically fearful, for example, you project that and will only attract more and more situations that will cause you to be afraid. If anger is predominant, you’re sending out signals that you expect hostility—and that’s exactly what you’ll get.

But if you choose a lighter, happier attitude, you broadcast the message that you expect the world to be a joyous place, and both your energy and your expectation will bring more of that to you. If you have confident and peaceful feelings about yourself, they’ll send out a very magnetic vibration, attracting people and experiences that bring an even deeper sense of serenity to your life. This is your resonant reality; what you send out will most certainly come back to you.

Your predominant feelings energize your destiny creation by virtue of their powerful presence in your heart and mind. The more emotionally charged an experience or issue is, the more power it generates. For this reason, a shift to more positive sentiments is a basic requirement of the Law of Magnetism. It’s an energetic truth that the quality of your emotional life will determine the caliber of your life in general. In this the law is strict: The Universe will return your own joy, love, and happiness to you; and it will return your fear, anger, and unhappiness as well.

But where do emotions come from? What’s the source of this powerful energy that you engage in all the time? Underneath every single emotional experience is a stimulating source. Whether the feeling is anger or love, misery or joy, depression or excitement, boredom or bliss, every blossom or thorn of sentiment has one originating seed—and that seed is thought.

The Thought’s the Thing

The second way that you project your energy out into the world is through your cognitive power. Your thoughts rarely stop, so they’re continually churning out vibrational messages in your energetic field. And since they’re also the source of your emotional energy, they’re doubly important in your pursuit of success.

Thoughts of confidence bring feelings of hope, while those of inadequacy bring feelings of despair. Which is more likely to attract wonderful outcomes to you? The positive results you’re looking for can only come from peaceful emotions and positive thoughts.

If you’re like most people, the process of thinking may seem rather random and spontaneous, something that you just experience rather than decide on. Maybe you’ve never been taught to think positively, or maybe the direction your mind takes depends on the situation you’re in or the people you’re with. One thing’s for sure: If you look around you and find your life wanting, the Universe is telling you to take control of your thoughts!

Most negative thinking is based in one of three fears:

1. Fear of the future

2. Fear of rejection

3. Fear of failure

Fear of the future can range from fleeting worries that something may go wrong to wild anticipation of personal catastrophe, including thoughts such as What if the meeting doesn’t go well? What if I lose this account? What if I get sick or die?

Fear of rejection runs the gamut from nagging concerns about being judged to utter panic about being abandoned. People who have these kinds of thoughts are often self-critical or even self-loathing. Thoughts such as I’m not good enough, I’m not capable, and I’m not worthy invariably lead to fears such as What if my spouse leaves me? or What if I get fired?

All fear is toxic to the energy of achievement, so it’s inevitable that fear of failure creates the energy of a self-fulfilling prophecy; those who see themselves as unsuccessful can only draw defeat. These negative thoughts are your greatest obstacles to genuine happiness. They destroy optimism and increase worry and frustration, two miserable vibrations that attract miserable results. It’s often said that your life moves in the direction of your dominant thought, and your energy is the reason why.

Reprogram Your Mind And Body For Success

Creative visualization may sound all fuzzy, new age and far fetched to you. However, if you can put aside your doubts for a moment and give it a try, the results of your creative visualization exercise could surprise and delight you. 

Creative visualization involves the use of mental images to project the achievement of a particular task, performance or any desired outcome.

The key here is the fact that your subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between the images that it is feed during the creative visualization process and reality. As such, perfect outcomes can be created in your own mental lab and used to increase your levels of self belief and confidence. Of course the only way that you can “see” for yourself what creative visualization can do for you is to give it a try. 

Here are some steps to get you off the mental imaging starting block:

1) Recall A Strong, Positive Memory

You can make this positive memory as racy or inspiring as you like-nobody else will know anyway. For example, the recall your graduation day or the birth of your child is the kind of strong, positive memory that I am talking about. What you want to notice is how you recall the memory. Are you able to see the past events in full color, do any scents come to mind or can you recall some of the words that you said with only a vague recollection of the actual event?

Use your dominant areas of recall to model your first visualization exercises.

2) Start With An Easy First Visualization Exercise

Now that you have recalled your past, mentally project a future event or reality based on an aspect of your daily life that you can easily recall. For example, you can visualize yourself reaching to the office on time in your favorite blue shirt and red tie or feeling great while doing your usual morning exercise.

3) Practice Frequently

Do not put off your visualization sessions or you can easily never get to it.  Instead, be sure to practice your visualization on a daily basis, preferably at a time and place where you will not be interrupted for at least ten minutes.

4) Set Clear, Short-term Goals For Your Creative Visualization Sessions

Seeing some early success from your visualization sessions will inspire you to keep on practicing. You can easily use visualization to start to develop new habits such as being punctual or being calm with a rude customer by mentally repeating these desired new behaviors in your sessions.

5) What A Feeling

Allow yourself to truly feel positive emotions such as joy, pride, excitement during your creative visualization exercise. The strong feelings you experience while performing your visualization exercises appear to act like a magnet to draw the desired imaged results to you faster.

Like so many other worthwhile activities, the more time and energy that you invest in creative visualization, the more personal benefits you will be able to enjoy.

The Power of Choice

Choice is the most powerful of all the tools with which you create your reality, more powerful even than your beliefs, thoughts and feelings, because ultimately choice can supersede these, can steer and direct them in accordance with your will. You make thousands of choices every day, most of which you are not even conscious of. Your habits, for example, are choices that have become unconscious and automatic.

Actions, behavioural choices, are the most obvious choices, but there are subtler yet more profound choices, choices of what we think and feel, the attitudes we hold, the principles and values we choose to abide by, or not as the case may be. Every choice we make has an impact to a greater or lesser extent, each one like a pebble dropped in a pond, the ripples, the ramifications, spreading out into our future and other areas of our life.

Choice is available in every moment as a doorway to the possible, and in such, every moment is an opportunity filled with potential, for a new beginning, for greater love, for a new direction, for expanded success.

What choice could you make right now that would change your life for the better, today, tomorrow, in the coming weeks, months or years?

Perhaps choices of thought, feeling, or action, choices for new beliefs, choices of character, loving choices for yourself and others, choices born of your dreams, courageous choices outside your current comfort zone, choices that make your heart sing and bring you joy. People often accept responsibility for their actions, for what they choose to physically do, yet less often do they accept responsibility for what they think and feel and the impact this has on their life, yet this is where the greatest power of choice lies. It is your thoughts and feelings, your beliefs and attitudes that determine your experience, and in themselves, influence the very types of choices you are likely to make.

What new thoughts, beliefs and attitudes could you choose? How would that change your state of life, your state of mind, your behaviour, your relationships, your sense of self-value, for example…Even one small choice made today that shifts your life by one degree, can overtime lead to a future far brighter than where you are heading, opening you to new worlds of possibility, new doorways, new horizons, new people, places and opportunities, new levels of love, joy and success.

There are no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ choices as such – but there are choices that are more or less serving to yourself and others at a given time. Don’t beat yourself up for faulty past choices and mistakes. Forgive yourself for less than serving choices in your human journey and let go of your past. You can create a new slate and lay new foundations through choice. You can forge an entirely new landscape and positively reinvent yourself and your world.

Found your choices in beauty and purity of love, and they will always lead to bright outcomes. Choice sourced in love can only ever win! Fear choices, anger choices, revenge choices, on the other hand, unsurprisingly don’t lead to fruitful results.

The mental and emotional state you are in can greatly influence the quality of your choices. Meditating, reflection and brainstorming can open up many possibilities and available choices. When making a choice it can help to ask yourself, ‘What would be the most loving choice?’ or ‘What would the winner choose?’

You might also like to put yourself in the shoes of your brightest future. What types of choices would that you make? It already knows the pathways and decisions that will take you where you want to be. You can also think of someone you admire greatly, perhaps in a given field you are pondering a choice in (be it relationships, business, health, and so on), and ask yourself, ‘What would [NAME OF INSPIRING PERSON] choose in this situation?’

Awaken the power of choice, befriend it, use it more consciously, freely, more wisely and lovingly.

Got Forgiveness?

The key to forgiveness is to forgive from the heart not from the mind. Knowing in your rational mind that your parents did the best they could to raise you is not enough to constitute forgiveness.

If you have any type of negative emotional reaction in the presence of someone, you have not truly forgiven that person. What would happen if you took 5 minutes to walk in the other person’s shoes? Could you find compassion for them to understand why things happened the way they did?

Forgiveness doesn’t mean you have to agree with what they did or how they did it. Not at all. Your values and beliefs may be very different from theirs. It simply means that you can see the whole truth of what happened and that the Truth encompasses all points of view, not just your own. True compassion of the human experience is that place from which all forgiveness begins. Compassion is an act of unconditional love that is free of any attachment.

Forgiveness is about seeing life with clarity so that you stop judging the activities of others and, instead, take responsibility for your interpretation of those activities. When you judge something that happens in life as good or bad, right or wrong you aren’t able to have gratitude for the challenges and experiences life sends your way. No matter how enlightened a person you may be, challenging situations will always happen. However, if you have gratitude for life’s challenges you will always find your joy in life and never feel victimized by your circumstances.

Once you have seen the truth you simply make the decision to let go of the pain, anger, and resentment you have been holding on to. If you are addicted to your pain, resentment, self-righteousness, this might be a challenging step for you. There is comfort in what we find familiar, even if we are suffering. However, once you let go, the weight of the world will be released from your shoulders.

In the forgiveness process, it is important to forgive not only the other people in our lives, but also ourselves. For most people, forgiving ourselves is more difficult then forgiving others. Here are a few things to check in with yourself to see if you could use some forgiveness on.

- Forgive yourself for using people in your life to hurt yourself.

- Forgive yourself for not having clarity, for blaming others, and for not taking responsibility for your actions.

- Forgive yourself for wounding others and for the anger, jealousy, and hate you’ve directed toward others.

- Forgive yourself for participating in situations that went against your integrity.

- Forgive yourself for not respecting yourself.

- Forgive yourself for not trusting yourself and having faith in your abilities.

- Forgive yourself for trying to control the people you love.

- And, of course, forgive yourself for not loving yourself 100% just the way you are!

If you forgive you will be truly happy, and your life will reflect the change back to you in every way. After all, what we think in our minds is what manifests in our lives! The bottom line is that we forgive not because the other person necessarily deserves it, but because we do not want to carry that load around until we die.  Anger, hate, and jealousy will make you old, resentful and ugly, inside and out. The question is, how much do you love and respect yourself? Is it enough to give yourself the gift of forgiveness? I hope so.

How to Discover Enlightenment in Negative Feelings

One of the most common questions people ask is “How do I stop having negative thoughts and feelings? As you know, holding onto a negative emotional state will keep you from manifesting what you truly desire because it holds you stuck in a lower vibrational place. Negative feelings arise because they are trying to push you into a higher positive experience. Each feeling is trying to ignite your spiritual path and help you to grow exponentially. The problem in life occurs not when you have a negative feeling, but when you resist the experience of it.

Avoiding negative feelings means you are attached to having a positive experience, and live as if you were on a life preserver lost at sea. The more you try to resist negative emotions, the more they have a grip on you. Whatever we resist persists. When you cannot feel a negative feeling, you are saying IT is more powerful than you, and are unknowingly advocating that you’re not connected to the all-powerful divine God Source. If you never allow yourself to feel what’s going on inside, you are overly attached to positivity and avoiding negativity. You cannot find clarity until you relinquish all attachment to it. The key is not in control, but in total acceptance of all your parts and pieces. When you stop resisting and start accepting, your energy and consciousness instantly expand and you become more receptive and available to the Divine within.

The good news about negative feelings is that there is a hidden state of divine joy and freedom at every core. Negative feelings are like deep pools of mud, each with a brilliant shimmering diamond buried at the bottom of the muck. Each gem is soooo amazing and perfect that we may not be ready to see it, feel it and own it fully in all its glory. We may be over-identified with negative thoughts about ourselves, so its hard to feel worthy of its all accepting love and Jedi Master quality. So we tend to hide it in the deepest and safest place possible (where nobody will look for it) at the bottom of our inner muck. Here the mud covers the light emanating from the diamond and makes us believe we are dim struggling powerless light beings who need to cleanse, purge and purify our dirty selves. Yet, the truth is that when we dive into the very center of the muck (negative feelings), the beautiful jewel must rise to the surface to be fully revealed.

The secret to success in this wild inner adventure is using your breath as your “life line” as you dive through your most gruesome negative feelings. By using your inhalation and exhalation to guide you into and through a feeling, you will discover the power within you to transcend it. The breath is your passage to freedom, as it naturally releases any resistance or distractions that bubble up and allow you to remain focused and on the healing track. Diving through a large muddy pool of emotions can be scary or exciting, depending on your attitude towards it. It may take you a few minutes or hours to get focused enough to dive completely through a challenging feeling, yet with a solid intention to find the diamond, and using your breath to guide you down, you’ll discover a beautiful state of liberation at your core! Just dive into your feeling and observe the story, judgment, or resistance of it. Whatever you experience will transform when you stay with the breath, feel your feelings, and remain open to the experience.

True inner peace is always found in the last place you would think of looking for it. Only by diving into and through your heaviest, hardest, coldest, and loneliest feelings will you find inner peace. The enlightened state within you is always available, the question is are you willing to face the dark night of your soul to experience it? This highest enlightened experience of life emanates from the deepest most calm stillness inside you. This great lightness is at the very bottom of your well, at the center of your muck, at the core of your being. You’ll find the most beautiful clear mind and lightest feelings from accepting all that is unclear and heavy inside. The enlightened mind knows it is that completely blank screen which is behind every muddy or sparkly movie. It has no judgment, preference or care as to what movie plays on its screen. It simply allows for the images, words and emotions to flicker upon it and it always remains untouched and unharmed.
